Sometimes it stems from joy, sometimes more from pain. Other times, it’s just because. But here are a few scenarios where I commonly find myself singing.
I sing on regular idol Tuesdays when there’s nothing happening. I could be while walking down the street, working at my desk, or sitting at dinner (I think my family came up with the “no singing at the dinner table” rule just for me).
I sing when times are hard. Both my grandmothers passed away this past year, and sometimes the best way for me to work my way through the confusion of those darker emotions is to pour my heart out into song. Something about doing this just provides me such sweet release.
I sing when I’m happy, filled with gratitude, or just plain content. It’s not even conscious anymore… it just happens. It’s awesome 🙂
Probably one of the funniest things I do is I sing while stuck in traffic jams. It’s my version of road rage (albeit a bit more pleasant)… I take the melody of whatever I’m singing along to and make up new lyrics telling people to get out of my way :p
Naturally, I sing all day when I teach. This is always fun for me.
And finally, I sometimes find myself singing at the end of the day when everything’s toning down a bit. The less I think, the more I enjoy. It’s almost like it helps me find my way back to center.
I think the main reason I sing is because it’s such a wonderful way to express myself… even if I don’t know exactly what it is that wants to come out. It’s the coolest thing.
So yeah, that’s why I sing. What about you?[/fusion_text][/fullwidth]
